How to Renew Your OFA Level 2 Intermediate First Aid Certification in BC
Your OFA Level 2 certificate expires three years after the date you passed, regardless of when you actually started using it. Unlike some first aid programs, there is no shortened renewal and no challenge exam, so to recertify you complete the full two-day Intermediate First Aid course again. Here is how to do that without losing a week of work or lapsing your coverage.
When to book your renewal
Book four to six weeks before your expiry date. Weekend and popular weekday classes fill fast, and you do not want to be scrambling the week your certificate expires.
What to expect in the renewal class
Exactly the same content as the original course. Two full days, approximately 14 hours of instruction, taught by an active paramedic. Students returning for renewal usually find day one familiar and hit their stride on day two. Our Day 1 walkthrough still applies.
What happens if you let it lapse
Nothing catastrophic. You simply cannot act as a WorkSafeBC first aid attendant until you complete the full course again. For many BC workers this means being taken off first aid duty until they recertify, so early booking is the smart play.
How to book
Reserve your seat online at the Mainland Safety OFA Level 2 page, or call 604-617-0211. Renewal students can take the course at any of Mainland Safety's BC campuses.
