First Aid Requirements for Small BC Businesses
Small BC businesses often assume first aid does not apply to them. It does. Even a three-person business has WorkSafeBC first aid obligations.
Minimum requirement
Every BC workplace must have at least a basic first aid kit and someone trained to use it. For low-hazard businesses with a handful of workers, Level 1 is typically sufficient.
When Level 2 is the right call
- You work in trades, delivery, food service or any physical work
- Your nearest hospital is more than 20 minutes away
- You expect growth into a moderate-hazard classification
- You want to bid on contracts that require Level 2
See Schedule 3-A for exact rules.
