Scene Safety on BC Worksites: How OFA Level 2 Attendants Approach a Scene

The first five seconds of any first aid call are about not becoming a second patient. Level 2 drills this relentlessly because BC workplaces can turn a simple response into a multi-casualty incident if the attendant runs in blind.

Check before approaching

  • Traffic, moving equipment
  • Electrical hazards
  • Falling objects
  • Chemicals, fumes, fire
  • Unstable surfaces

Protect yourself

PPE appropriate to the scene. Gloves at minimum. Hard hat, high-viz if you are already on site. See documentation and reporting.
