What Does a BC First Aid Attendant Actually Do?
Being the designated first aid attendant in a BC workplace is a real role with real daily responsibilities.
Daily
- Inspect the first aid kit at shift start
- Verify AED status and pad expiry
- Check oxygen cylinder pressure
- Confirm emergency transport is available
- Review any incident from the previous shift
When an incident happens
- Respond and provide care
- Delegate phone calls and support
- Document fully
- Restock the kit
- Report to supervisor and WorkSafeBC as required
