What Does a BC First Aid Attendant Actually Do?

Being the designated first aid attendant in a BC workplace is a real role with real daily responsibilities.

Daily

  • Inspect the first aid kit at shift start
  • Verify AED status and pad expiry
  • Check oxygen cylinder pressure
  • Confirm emergency transport is available
  • Review any incident from the previous shift

When an incident happens

  • Respond and provide care
  • Delegate phone calls and support
  • Document fully
  • Restock the kit
  • Report to supervisor and WorkSafeBC as required
