When Does My BC Workplace Need a First Aid Room?

A first aid room is a dedicated treatment space required in larger or higher-hazard BC workplaces. Schedule 3-A sets the rules.

When required

  • Workplaces with 50+ workers on a shift in moderate hazard roles
  • Any workplace with 26+ workers in high hazard
  • Anywhere ambulance response exceeds 2 hours

What it must contain

Examination table or bed, stretcher, oxygen, BVM, splints, dressings, sink with hot and cold water, clean and covered waste receptacle, privacy, good lighting. See first aid kits for what supplies live in it.
